Farmhouse Lasagna

This rustic lasagna is layered with rich tomato sauce, creamy cheese, and a savory blend of Whitt’s own ground sirloin and pork sausage. It’s simple, filling, and absolutely delicious.

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Whitt’s Place ground sirloin
  • 1 lb Whitt’s Place pork sausage or ground pork
  • 2 cans (15 oz) Tomato Sauce
  • 1 box Oven Ready Lasagna
  • 32 oz bag Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 8 oz Shredded Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 (16 oz) tub Original Sour Cream
  • 1 (8 oz) block Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Italian Seasoning
  • Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
  • Optional: chopped fresh basil or parsley for garnish

🔥 Instructions:

1. Brown the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground sirloin and pork sausage together until fully browned.

2. Make the Sauce

Stir into the browned meat both cans of tomato sauce, and season with salt, pepper, and a teaspoon of minced garlic, and a tablespoon of Italian seasonings. Let simmer on low for at least 10 minutes.

3. Cheese Mixture

In a bowl, combine sour cream, softened cream cheese, and one tablespoon of Italian Seasoning. Stir until smooth.

4. Assemble the Lasagna

In a 9×13 baking dish:

  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce.
  • Layer with oven-ready lasagna noodles.
  • Spread a layer of the cheese mixture.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella.
  • Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, ending with sauce and a generous layer of mozzarella and parmesan on top.

5. Bake

Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden.

6. Rest and Serve

Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
